• A large-scale 3D-printed sorbent bed for selective gas separation is developed and examined. • 3D-printed sorbent bed exhibits a packing density of 82%, surpassing the 64% limit of packed spherical-bead beds. • It is demonstrated, for the first time, that a 3D-printed sorbent bed can eliminate the wall channeling effect. • At a similar packing density, a 3D-printed sorbent bed exhibits a lower pressure drop penalty compared to a packed bed.
