A 26-year-old woman with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and an indwelling port catheter presented with progressive dyspnea. One month earlier, mild dyspnea had developed, without functional impairment. She was found to have multiple pulmonary emboli on the right side on computed tomographic angiography (CTA) of the chest, and enoxaparin therapy was started. Despite treatment, her symptoms progressed to the point of her being unable to walk more than a few steps. She had no headache, fevers, chills, cough, orthopnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea, swelling in the legs or feet, or weight gain.
