In shallow surface electromagnetic detection, the conventional transmitting schemes, such as square wave and pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) wave schemes, have fixed spectrum configurations, which limits the detection efficiency and accuracy for specific targets. To solve this problem, a novel transmitting scheme based on multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm is proposed. This method allows flexible spectrum modification by optimizing the switching time sequence of the transmitting current with multiple objectives required for detection. The principle of the MOPSO-based spectrum modification method is analyzed. Combined with detection requirements, two optimization schemes are provided with the objectives of matching the desired spectrum and maximizing the transmission energy of detection frequencies. Finally, comparative simulations and laboratory experiments are carried out to verify the feasibility of the novel transmitting scheme. The proposed scheme offers more reasonable configuration of main frequency distribution and spectral energy allocation, which contributes to improving detection efficiency and accuracy.
