District heating systems are defined as centralized heating systems for residential buildings. In this study, a multidimensional analysis for evaluating district heating systems is conducted by employing the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution method with interval decision data. In the evaluation process, six different district heating systems are evaluated with respect to five evaluation criteria: life cycle cost, abiotic, the use of water, global warming and acidification. Six different scenarios are generated based on the combination of criteria weights, and then the sensitivity analysis is conducted to rank alternatives under a different condition. The result of this study illustrates that a geothermal district heating system is the most suitable alternative when life cycle cost and global warming concerns become more important than other criteria.
