• A sponge with a spider‑silk‑like spindle‑knot structure is fabricated via carbonization and PDMS modification. • PDMS@CMS exhibits superhydrophobicity (WCA 155.2°) and outstanding adsorption capacities (61.86–168.04 g·g-1). • Efficient capture of airborne oil droplets reduces fire hazards, and photothermal heating (>140 °C) rapidly remediates crude oil. • The material displays superior thermal stability and flame retardancy, ensuring low fire risk during oil spill remediation.
