Abstract

• A novel vibration-reduction method of rotating drum-disc rotors is proposed by combining nonlinear hard coatings and coupling mistuning. • A general dynamic modeling approach of rotating drum-disc rotors considering the material non-linearity of coatings and coupling mistuning is proposed. • The vibration-reduction optimization model is created with the coupling mistuning parameters and coating parameters as independent variables and the goal of minimizing the maximum response in the rotor. • The proposed vibration-reduction method of combining nonlinear coatings and mistuning design significantly improves the vibration-reduction effect compared with the single vibration-reduction means.
