In advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), perovskites have been widely used as catalysts for activating peroxides. When CaCoO3 is composited with biochar (BC), Co leaching is reduced by nearly half. Under the condition of pH = 7, in the presence of 5 mM peracetic acid (PAA) and 0.05 g center dot L-1 of CaCoO3-BC0.1, the removal efficiency of acetaminophen (APAP) reaches 99.6% within 20 min in the CaCoO3-BC0.1/PAA oxidation process, indicating its excellent degradation rate. Electrochemical tests, quenching experiments, and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis reveal that in the CaCoO3-BC0.1/PAA system, non - radical pathways (1O2, Co(IV), and electron transfer process (ETP)) jointly dominate the degradation of APAP. Further research shows that the redox cycle of Co(II)/Co(III) in AOPs plays a positive role in the degradation of APAP. In addition, CaCoO3-BC0.1 exhibits excellent anti-interference ability and high - efficiency purification ability in actual wastewater treatment. In this study, CaCoO3-BC0.1 can be regarded as a new type of cobalt-based catalyst, which contributes to the application of PAA-based AOPs in wastewater treatment.
