• Novel bilateral organosilicon precursor (Ade-Trp-BOSP) was designed and prepared based on nucleobase (Adenine) and single amino acid (Tryptophan) via a multistep reaction. • New functionalized organo-bridged mesoporous silica (Ade-Trp-OBMS) was constructed through immobilizing Adenine-tryptophan conjugate within the framework. • The resulting Ade-Trp-OBMS exhibits excellent reusability and maintains stable adsorption capacity for sulfadiazine even in complex aqueous environments. • The Ade-Trp-OBMS material improved sulfadiazine adsorption capacity by hydrogen bonding and π-π interactions.
