Abstract

The pi bridge plays a key role in the photocatalytic performance of linear conjugated polymers. Herein, we design and synthesize a series of linear conjugated polymers (QBT and E-QBT) with and without an alkynyl bridge, aiming to elucidate the role of the alkynyl bridge in linear conjugated polymers for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance. The optoelectronic properties and photocatalytic performances of the polymers were systematically investigated. The experimental results show that the alkynyl bridge endows E-QBT with broad absorption, efficient photoelectric conversion and fast charge transfer, ensuring that E-QBT has a better photocatalytic hydrogen rate than QBT. These findings demonstrate that the incorporation of an alkynyl bridge is a potential strategy for engineering high-performance organic conjugated polymer photocatalysts.
