This paper presents mi efficient software host/co-processor architecture for the implementation of MPEG-4 Audio composition. The proposed solution is based on a specific partition between general-purpose tasks and DSP-oriented functionality, thus achieving portability, efficient partitioning of the processing resources and memory management.
