The evaluation of cylindricity error holds a crucial position in manufacturing industries. It is a key factor in ensuring geometric accuracy of workpieces, enhancing product performance, and prolonging product lifespan. This paper proposes an optimized cylindricity extraction method based on Data Transformation-Quickhull algorithm. Firstly, the scattered three-dimensional data points from multiple sections were transformed onto a two-dimensional plane without height dimensions, and the data was compacted further through extremum transformation. Next, the effective calculation points' positions were determined using the Quickhull convex hull algorithm, and the obtained data was restored back into three-dimensional space. Finally, the optimized data was used for evaluating cylindricity error. Experimental results show that this method improves error evaluation efficiency while ensuring cylindricity error evaluation accuracy, presenting promising application prospects and promotion value.
