In this letter, a new miniaturized dual-polarized angle-selective surface (MDASS) design is proposed using a compact double-layer patch-coupled resonant frequency-selective surface (CDPR-FSS). The structure exhibits interlayer electromagnetic coupling, which generates second transmission poles (STPs) near the fundamental resonant frequency of the single-layer patch FSS. The angle sensitivity at STPs facilitates the realization of angle-selective properties. Based on the classical square-loop patch, our detailed analysis demonstrates that its CDPR-FSS achieves good dual-polarized angle-selective characteristics with a significantly reduced periodicity size and a lower profile compared to existing ASS designs. Therefore, an MDASS can be realized. Simulation and measurement are conducted to verify the performance of the structure. The proposed MDASS is promising for sidelobe suppression of the high-gain compact antenna.
