• Pruned branch sawdust from citrus trees can be used as a substrate for wood ear mushroom cultivation. • Fruitbody yields on citrus sawdust were comparable to those on the control medium. • Only one boscalid was detected in mushrooms cultured from citrus branch sawdust. • The detected boscalid levels (0.003 ppm, fresh weight), were far below allowable levels for food products.
