• An integrated MATLAB framework for standalone PV system optimization. • Combined analytical, PSO, and ANN method for faster computation. • Achieved 9 % cost reduction and 97.94 % reliability with optimized PV battery sizing. • Introduced diminishing return effect (DRE) to define the economic reliability limit. • Attained grid parity by year 3 with LCOE ≈ $ 0.13 / kWh under Tamil Nadu conditions.
