This article presents the TS-G, a German-language version of the Transphobia Scale (TS; J. L. Nagoshi et al., 2008). A forward-backward procedure was used to translate the TS. The data set consisted of five independent samples, including a follow-up sample, with a total N of 1,774 participants. Data were collected between 2020 and 2024. Analyses concerned the dimensional structure, reliability, and distributional properties of the TS-G as well as its concurrent and prognostic validity. Data confirmed the TS-G as a unidimensional, internally consistent, temporally stable, and approximately normally distributed measure. It shared substantial variance with the Genderism and Transphobia Scale (Hill & Willoughby, 2005) and the transgender feeling thermometer (Norton & Herek, 2013). Furthermore, the TS-G showed significant correlations with contact with transgender people (negative), social contagion concerns, homophobia, and traditional gender norms (all positive). It was also associated with political and religious orientation (higher TS-G levels among right-wing oriented and religious individuals) and some demographics (higher TS-G levels among men, heterosexuals, and less educated individuals). Furthermore, the TS-G predicted participants' disagreement with liberal transgender legislation over a 4-week interval. The result pattern remained unchanged when using TS-G scores with social desirability partialed out. The discussion concerns the psychometric quality of the TS-G and its future use.
