Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
Nowadays, the global population of electric vehicles (EVs) is rapidly increasing with a perspective to reach 200 million by 2030, according to IEA. Such a massive penetration of EVs leads to challenges for the power grids due to consumption peaks caused by simultaneous charging of large EV fleets. The current study proposes a tractable convex optimization model with L-1-regularization for coordinated EV charging, which alleviates the EV battery degradation and allows for the use of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. With the use of this model, the EV hosting capacity of a real suburban area is assessed for three charging cases - unmanaged charging, coordinated charging, and charging with the use of V2G.
