A novel design method for beam-scanning transmitarray antenna is proposed to extend the scanning range, by using additional freedom degrees including frequency or polarization. The proposed transmitarray utilizes redundant (in some applications) frequency-domain or polarization-domain resources in exchange for the spatial-domain coverage, resulting in wide scanning range, which is not easy to realize by other design methods. As examples, a dual-frequency and a dual-polarized transmitarrays are presented. Radiations at 10/13 GHz or with x-/y-polarizations are skillfully designed to undertake the scanning in the left-/right-half regions, respectively. The results show that the accumulated wide scanning ranges within +/- 60 degrees and +/- 50 degrees are obtained, which are much wider than published works.
