• SDIP integrates light scattering with imaging for multiscale flocculation monitoring. • Three distinct stages of Pb²⁺-induced γ-PGA flocculation were identified. • Pb²⁺ accelerates flocculation consistent with adsorption-bridging or collision effect. • Polymer molecular weight exhibits a dual effect of bridging and steric hindrance.
