• TLR signalling is emerging as a conserved pathway in all species and conditions. • The viral mimic Poly I:C induces more conserved responses than Vibrio. • Seven orthologous genes show uniform regulation across all stimuli/conditions. • In vitro responses are dominated by PRRs, while in vivo enriches DNA repair. • Comparative analysis identifies chemokine, interferon, APP, signalling & MAPK genes.
