• Cu2Se/CuSe heterostructures were successfully synthesized using the hydrothermal method. • The synergistic interaction between Cu2Se and CuSe effectively enhances their electrochemical performance as anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. • The nanoflake morphology helps mitigate volume expansion and extend cycle life • This heterostructure exhibits excellent cycling stability and rate capability when used as an electrode.
