This study was conducted to determine the best turfgrass varieties to create green areas under long and cold winter conditions in high-altitude regions. In 2018, 14 varieties of Lolium perenne, Festuca arundinacea, Poa pratensis, Festuca rubra, and Agrostis tenuis were planted. In 2018 and 2019, the results of the turf quality parameters were evaluated. The research was carried out in a randomized complete blocks experimental design with three replications at the Plant Production and Application Center of Atat & uuml;rk University in Erzurum. Emergence speed, ground cover speed, the start date of growth in spring, the date of dormancy in autumn, the winter hardiness, the regeneration power after clipping, and the turf quality parameters were examined. F. arundinacea and L. perenne cultivars were in good condition in terms of numerous parameters. Olympus, Brigantine, Master Piace, Allstarter, Jackento, and Cutter2 are turfgrass varieties better adapted to regional conditions. It was determined that the Denso variety of A. tenuis developed poorly in high altitude conditions and that its turf quality characteristics were poor.
