The stability of an edge dislocation embedded in a two-dimensional structure composed of one layer of ZnS and one layer of Ge has been theoretically investigated from a Peach-Koehler force-based analysis in the absence of misfit stress and layer bowing effects. The effect of thickness ratio between the two layers of heterogeneous elastic coefficients has been characterized on the different equilibrium positions of the dislocation through the study of the climbing component of the Peach-Koehler force. It is found that the number (from 3 to 5) and nature (stable or unstable) of these equilibrium positions distributed in both layers vary significantly as a function of the thickness ratio.
