For the first time a new version of dispersive micro-solid phase extraction in a micro-channel system was introduced and developed. The proposed design is based on the increase of contact surface area between target analytes and adsorbent particles during movement in the micro-channel. Sample solution and adsorbent were mixed by stirring that were simultaneously delivered into a micro-channel via a syringe pump. Optimization of main parameters affecting the extraction efficiency of the proposed method was performed by ibuprofen as a model compound. Effective parameters such as adsorbent amount, pH of sample solution, desorption time, elution solvent and its volume, micro-channel shape, length and its inside diameter were investigated and optimized. Under the optimized conditions, the proposed method was linear in the range of 0.1-20 mu g/mL with R-2 equal to 0.9963. The limits of detection and quantification of the proposed method were 0.03 and 0.1 mu g/mL, respectively. Extraction efficiency of the dispersive micro-solid phase extraction in micro-channel was compared with conventional dispersive micro-solid phase extraction. The results show that the dispersive micro-solid phase extraction coupled with micro-channel has higher extraction efficiency than conventional dispersive micro-solid phase extraction methods, which used the ultrasonic, and vortex for the adsorbent dispersion. Finally, the validated dispersive micro-solid phase extraction in micro-channel method was successfully applied for the determination of ibuprofen in plasma samples.
