• Platinum-based nanozyme/adenosine triphosphate system (Pt NZ/ATP) exhibits high peroxidase-like (POD-like) activity at neutral pH. • The POD-like activity of Pt NZ/ATP depends on the generation of •OH and O2•−. • The dual-mode (colorimetric/photothermal) platform for uric acid (UA) detection was fabricated based on Pt NZ/ATP system. • The colorimetric and photothermal point-of-care testing for UA shows limit of detection of 0.81 and 1.05 μM, respectively.
