In this study, phosphors of CaMoO4 co-doped with Tb & sup3;(+) and Dy & sup3;(+) were synthesized using a simple method to investigate their potential for multifunctional photonic applications. The down-conversion luminescence was examined, showing effective multicolor-tunable emission upon UV excitation. Near-white emission with optimized color coordinates was achieved by tuning the relative concentrations of Tb & sup3;(+) and Dy & sup3;(+). The mechanism of energy transfer between Dy & sup3;(+) and Tb & sup3;(+) ions was identified as a crucial factor in emission tuning. Moreover, temperature-dependent PL studies revealed a relative sensitivity of 3.5% K-& sup1; and an absolute sensitivity of 0.01, enabling multimodal, non-contact temperature sensing. This performance arises from the distinct thermal responses of Dy & sup3;(+) and Tb & sup3;(+) ions, highlighting the material's strong potential for optical thermometry. The distinct, reversible emission changes that occur under different thermal conditions, along with their remarkable color stability, make them suitable for high-sensitivity temperature sensors. Moreover, the material's intense luminescence and visibility under UV light make it suitable for anti-counterfeiting labels. The results emphasize that CaMoO4:Tb & sup3;(+) and Dy & sup3;(+) phosphors are adaptable options for luminescent devices with multiple functions.
