Abstract

A novel, efficient, transition-metal-free protocol for synthesizing ketenimines in 25-83% yields from N-sulfonyl ynamides via Et3B-catalyzed 1,3-sulfonyl migration is described. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions, exhibits broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. Mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction involved a radical-based chain reaction process.
