Abstract
En 中文
• We disaggregate data on trade and climate aid to the sectoral level to probe whether a positive relationship reflects strategic donor interests. • We find indicative, but not very robust evidence that climate aid allocation by the EU is driven by strategic trade (export) interests. • Principal climate aid appears less sensitive to export interests, suggesting it is less likely to be captured by donors’ economic self-interest.
