This study discusses the procedures and results of experimental verification of the qualification model (QM) of the power supply unit which is a communications payload for a communications technology demonstration satellite currently under development in Korea. Satellites undergo subsystem testing to evaluate their structural and thermal stability under launch and orbital environment. Experimental verification at the QM phase is conducted by using structural, shock, and thermal load condition. Structural environmental tests include quasi-static load, sinusoidal vibration, and random vibration. Shock tests involve a single shock applied in each direction using a shock test equipment. Eight cycles of thermal vacuum testing are performed to establish thermal stability in orbit. This paper presents a standard procedure for QM environmental testing conducted during the development of communications test satellite payloads and presents a method for analyzing test results. The power supply unit verified through experimental verification can be applied to the QM model of the communications test satellite.
