Growing digitalization means that vast amounts of data must be digested. The challenge is not how organizations can collect and store data but how to exploit big data for expanding business. New business based on big data analytics has a tremendous impact on business processes-as well as IT and software systems. In this instalment of Software Technology, Jens Heidrich, Adam Trendowicz, and I elaborate on how companies use big data to avoid being displaced by completely new players. We explain how to systematically develop a big data strategy and deploy data analytics. I look forward to hearing from both readers and prospective column authors about this column and the technologies you want to know more about.
