Abstract

Fe-based metallic glasses (Fe-MGs) exhibit attractive properties due to their unique microstructure. But they generally suffer from the un-coexist of strong glass form-ability (GFA) and excellent magnetism. In this study, we prepared a new foundation alloy of Fe80B13P7 by composition design. It can be made into a rod with a diameter of 1.0 mm by J-Quenching and an amorphous sheet with the thickness of 0.83 mm by induction melting. And the crystallization behaviors were discussed by crystallization kinetics, indicating it has good thermal stability to maintain amorphous structure. This designed alloy exhibits excellent soft magnetic properties with the low coercivity of 1 A/m and high saturation magnetic flux density of 1.58 T, which outperform plenty of commercial counterparts and has a high potential to be widely used in soft-magnetic applications fields. The successful preparation of this foundation alloy Fe80B13P7 MGs provides more options for development of Fe-MGs. And this component could be as a reference to develop the alloy with the coexistence of strong GFA and excellent magnetism.
