Abstract

• Critically ill children are at risk for sleep disruption. However, there is a paucity of sleep data in this population. • This work explores the role of amplitude-integrated electroencephalography as a tool to characterize sleep-wake cycling. • Children displayed a normal background pattern. Sleep-wake cycling increased over time and was seen more often in young children.
