• Real-time measuring the PM1 and PM2.5 exposure among household cooking members. • Analyzing the effects of different cooking methods, duration and ventilation on the exposure. • PM1 exposure concentration during cooking is 3.40 (95 % CI: 2.64−4.61) times higher. • PM2.5 exposure concentration during cooking is 2.21 (95 % CI: 1.76−2.65) times higher. • Cooking behavior contribute more significantly to PM1 levels than to PM2.5.
