An easily implemented external reset feedback (ERF) strategy for prevention of reset windup in generic model control (GMC) is developed. Validity of the strategy is illustrated by simulation and experimental results. Theoretical analysis on the error of the control system is also given to guide a control engineer as to appropriate convergence, truncation, and calibration criteria. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
