• A new Ni-doped Fe3O4/ZnO/GO nanocomposite was synthesized using facile method and characterized. • The Ni-Fe3O4/ZnO/GO nanocomposite is used as the modifier in CPE. • For the first time Ni-Fe3O4/ZnO/GO/CPE is used as an electrochemical sensor for simultaneous determination of DA and Trp. • The sensor showed excellent sensitivity and selectivity with wide linear range. • The sensor applied successfully for determination of DA and Trp in real samples.
