• Study conducted in the context of an intensive Summer Treatment Program. • Conduct problems were associated with more frequent and longer time-outs. • Callous-unemotional (CU) traits were associated with fewer time-outs. • Modified time-out led to more aggression and less compliance than standard time-out. • CU traits led to less compliance and more positive affect in standard time-outs.
