• The cyan emission intensity of Sr8Si4O12Cl8:Eu2+ can be enhanced by 2.39 times through optimizing the doping concentrations and fluxes. • The PL intensity of this cyan phosphor keeps 85.7% and 58.6% at 423 and 623 K than that at room temperature. • A high-quality WLED, which owns high color rendering index (CRI) and R9 values of both 91, was fabricated by combing the cyan phosphor with commercial green and red phosphors.
