• An algorithm is presented to handle incomplete and uncertain preference information in multi-objective optimization problem. • The concept of degree of preference is proposed for quantitatively describing the preference level of objectives. • The mapping relationship between degree of preference and weighting coefficient is established. • Degree of preference is modelled by fuzzy number to account for its uncertainty. • A criterion is proposed to select the robust solution from multiple potential optimal solutions.
