Abstract

Abstract

En 中文
• Fully dense GW83 Mg alloy deposited builds were successfully fabricated using the force-controlled AFSD process. • Both 250 rpm and 300 rpm deposited builds of the GW83 Mg alloy exhibited a significant mixed grain microstructure and the grain size in different regions showed the same size relationship, i.e., AS > middle > RS. • The deposited builds of the GW83 Mg alloy all exhibited a prominent basal plane 〈0001〉 fiber texture. • The distribution of α-Mg, the Zr particles and (Gd, Y)H2 second-phases exhibited uniformity in the deposited builds, while the β-Mg24(Gd, Y)5 phases were only found in the middle and RS regions. • The ultimate tensile strength (UTS) in the longitudinal direction of the deposited builds achieved over 92% of the extruded feedstock’s strength, whereas the UTS in the build direction reached only 83% of the feedstock’s strength.
