Infant Pacifier with Passive Wireless Temperature Sensor

Abstract

Sustainable health monitoring of infants is crucial to detect the changes in health conditions and diagnose the life threatening occurrences, at an early stage. Since infants are unable to provide feedback about discomfort or arising health complaints, it is a challenge for physicians to diagnose the medical conditions in infants effectively with less obtrusive methods. Wireless non invasive techniques are beneficial to monitor real time physiological changes in the babies and also are comfortable. In this paper, a battery-free wireless temperature sensor circuit is incorporated as a part of the pacifier, using the additive manufacturing. A temperature sensor, antenna and wireless circuit are integrated into the pacifier, to monitor the real time temperature changes of the baby over a long period of time.
