• Provides transient heat transfer in a cryogenic mechanical thermal switch. • The temperature relaxation time during solid-solid contact heat exchange is 12 s. • Demonstrated experimental cooling cycle of cascade cryogenic magnetic refrigerator. • The potential heat removal power is shown in the range from 5 to 100 K.
