• Invasive plant species drive rhizosphere-associated shifts in soil physicochemical and rhizosphere biogeochemistry and minerology. • Rhizosphere soils associated with C. odorata exhibited the lowest pH (5.93), which was 1.20 pH units lower than that of native species C. ternatea (7.13). • C. odorata was associated with sulphur enrichment, a reduced C:N ratio , and distinct recoverable trace metal profiles in the rhizosphere. • Enzyme activities differed significantly — C. odorata showed enhanced carbon and phosphorus cycling. β-glucosidase activity increased by up to 2.38-fold in C. odorata relative to C. ternatea. • Species-specific variation was observed in mineralogical composition, including differences in iron oxide and clay mineral phases.
