• A symmetric P-N flame retardant and micro‑crosslinked network are constructed in PLA. • LOI reaches 30.0% with UL‑94 V‑0 rating and minimal dripping. • Tensile strength exceeds 80 MPa while retaining excellent melt processability. • A “physical–chemical-gas phase” multi‑synergistic mechanism is revealed.
