Over the past decades, significant progress has been made in the development of microextraction techniques for the determination of (ultra)trace levels of elements in complex matrices. The growing emphasis on sustainable development and green chemistry has strongly influenced the advancement of modern analytical methods, promoting the replacement of hazardous reagents with safer alternatives, such as ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, including in iron determination. This paper analyzes innovative methods for iron determination, focusing on sorbent-based extraction methods and liquid-phase microextraction. Green assessment tools were applied to evaluate selected methods from the perspective of their environmental friendliness and practical applicability.
