• Liquorilactobacillus ghanensis D15 from water kefir has anti-Vibrio activity. • The strain exhibited excellent acid/bile-tolerant and auto/co-aggregation capacity. • High adhesion to Caco-2 cells and survival in simulated gastrointestinal fluids. • 23.43-fold purification of novel bacteriocin via a multistep purification strategy. • Broad-spectrum antibacterial capacity against Gram-negative/positive pathogens.
