• A 3.0 × 1.6 × 1.8 m platform enables zoned rock modeling and embedded sensing. • Four-stage cyclic loading over 0.4–1.2 MPa was reproduced, with tests lasting up to 1000 cycles. • Hoop strain divergence emerged at cycle 212 under 0.4–1.2 MPa cycling.
