• LED blue light directly damages corneal endothelial cells (CECs), reducing cell density, inducing cell dysfunction and accelerating cell aging. • Blue light overexposure leads to the imbalance of redox system and mitochondrial damage in CECs, causing senescence. • The antioxidant system of CECs is activated through the Keap1-Nrf2 signaling pathway. • Early Nrf2 pathway activation acts as a protective response against blue light-induced CEC damage.
