Critical point drying is replaced with a low-cost, ambient pressure method. In article number e02308, Erik Greve, Pia Pooker, Jan-Ole Stern, Dahnan Spurling, and co-workers use two low surface tension solvents (hexamethyldisilazane, tetramethylsilane), which are evaporated from delicate, highly porous framework aeromaterials, minimizing capillary forces that collapse the porous network. The materials are produced from graphene, MXene, PEDOT:PSS, MoS2, and TiO2, and their microstructure is preserved with minimal shrinkage.
