Abstract

• A high-temperature (600°C), high-pressure (5.2 MPa) LC-IRMS combustion interface was developed. • Chlorinated and brominated haloacetic acids achieved Δδ13C within ±1‰ with 94–108% recovery. • Trichloroacetic acid, previously difficult to analyze reliably by LC-IRMS, was successfully measured. • The method is applicable to polar, nonvolatile aromatic chlorinated compounds and phenols.
