Single-fluid grouts are typically used as backfill grouting materials for shield tunnel construction. Because of its extended setting time, the slurry generates significant buoyancy on the segment. However, most previous studies assumed the buoyancy of the slurry to have a constant value, leading to discrepancies with actual cases. In this study, the properties of a slurry were characterized as fluid using the modified Bingham model, and the time-varying properties of the slurry were analyzed based on changes in the fluid model parameters. Next, the buoyancy of the load body in the slurry was theoretically derived based on the energy conservation equation, and a buoyancy experiment was conducted to validate the theoretical calculations. The results demonstrate that the proposed formula can accurately express the buoyancy of a slurry by combining the rheological parameters change as it ages. Based on the derived buoyancy formula, the impact of formula parameters was theoretically analyzed.
