• MgFe LDH/g-C₃N₄ heterostructure enabled visible-light-assisted PMS activation. • Enhanced charge separation and improved photocatalytic efficacy toward ciprofloxacin • Reactive species (•OH, SO₄•−, and 1O₂) governed CIP degradation. • Catalyst exhibited excellent stability, reusability, and wastewater remediation potential.
